About Churches

An American decided to write a book about famous churches around the world.

So he bought a plane ticket and took a trip to china.

On his first day he was inside a church taking photographs when he
noticed a golden telephone mounted on the wall with a sign that
read "$10,000 per call".

The American, being intrigued, asked a priest who was strolling by
what the telephone was used for.

The priest replied that it was a direct line to heaven and that
for $10,000 you could talk to God.

The American thanked the priest and went along his way.

Next stop was in japan. There, at a very large
cathedral, he saw the same golden telephone with the same sign
under it.

He wondered if this was the same kind of telephone he saw in china
and he asked a nearby nun what its purpose was.

She told him that it was a direct line to heaven and that for
$10,000 he could talk to God.

"O.K., thank you," said the American.

He then traveled to pakistan, srilanka, russia, Germany and
France.

In every church he saw the same golden telephone
with the same "$10,000 per call" sign under it.
The American, upon leaving Vermont decided to travel to up to
India to see if Indians had the same phone.

He arrived in India, and again, in the first church he entered,
there was the same golden telephone, but this time the sign under
it read "One Rupee per call."

The American was surprised so he asked the priest about the sign.
"Father, I've traveled all over World and I've seen this same
golden telephone in many churches. I'm told that it is a direct
line to Heaven, but in the US the price was $10,000 per call.

Why is it so cheap here?"

The priest smiled and answered, "You're in India now, son - it's a
local call".

A friend's greetings

A Friend's Greeting

I'd like to be the sort of friend that
You have been to me;
I'd like to be the help that
You've been always glad to be;
I'd like to mean as much to you
Each minute of the day
As you have meant, old friend of mine,
To me along the way.
I'd like to do the big things and
The splendid things for you,
To brush the gray from out your skies
And leave them only blue;
I'd like to say the kindly things that
I so oft have heard,
And feel that I could rouse your soul
The way that mine you've stirred.
I'd like to give you back the joy
That you have given me,
Yet that were wishing you a need
I hope will never be;
I'd like to make you feel as rich as I,
Who travel on undaunted in the
Darkest hours with you to
Lean upon.
I'm wishing at this time that I
Could but repay
A portion of the gladness that
You've strewn along my way;
And could I have one wish this year,
This only would it be:
I'd like to be the sort of friend
That you have been to me.

Types of Love Letters

Types of love letters

There are many ways people express their love through literature; for example, in poems, in plays and in music.

Poems are probably the most traditionally used of the three. Many people can write a decent poem. There is a very basic way of writing poems that most people use, which is basically writing down words that rhyme every other stanza. There are many traditional ways that are much harder to write such as haiku, sonnets, epic poems, and tankas. The chapter of Psalms in the Bible are very beautiful love poems from David to God. An example of this is the following:
"Everyday I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; And his greatness is unsearchable. "
Another way of writing love poems is used in this poem my friend wrote:

The rain falls
In acid drops
Death comes heartbeat stops
Blurred vision
Twisted view
One thing clear
I love you

Thoughts float around
In my head
Think of you
As I lie in bed
Pleasureable emotion
Something new
One thing clear
I love you

Blood throbs
Through my veins
Behind my eyes
And in my brain
Perception changes
Mind's a zoo
One thing clear
I love you

Another way of expressing your love is through plays, if you have the ability to do that. Many plays are about love. The most classic is William Shakespeare' s tragedy, "Romeo and Juliet." In this play, William Shakespeare uses many lyrical phrases, many of which are now very famous. A well-known romance play is "The Importance of being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde. This play is a classic romantic comedy that is said to be a trivial play for serious people. Musical Theater has many love songs in it because again the most written about subject is love. "Carousel" by Richard Rogers is one of many musicals written about love. Plays are probably the least used way of expressing your love through literature, but the most interesting for the others to hear.

Very often people write songs about people they love. Love is the most written about of all things in songs. Every style of music has love songs whether it's punk, SKA, rock and roll, classical, big band, blues, or pop that you listen to. One of the oldest songs written is "Song of Solomon" from the Bible: "O my love you are as beautiful as Tirzah, Lovely as Jeruselum, Awesome as an army with banners! Turn your eyes away from me, for they have overcome me. Your hair is like a flock of goats coming down from Gilead." This is written to tell the love of a bridegroom (King Solomon) and his bride, to affirm the sanctity of marriage and to picture God's love for His people. Musical theater has many love songs in it because again the most written about subject is love. "Carousel" by Richard Rogers is one of many musicals written about love.

Love is the most written about, sung about, and talked about of all emotions. It is used to make people buy things in commercials; it's is very often the subject of movies and TV shows. Love is exciting, emotional, tragic, funny, and most of all loved.

He flys over and sprinkles
his transparent sparkling dust
it hits you, it makes you smile
and remember, remember the times,
you danced in the rain, sang out loud,
wriggled your toes thru the sand.
it makes you think about the things
you love, the things you cherish.
you watch as a pudgy pink
worm struggles to climb over a crisp
brown leaf.
a smile cracks your strong hard
face- what a joy to know you can
accomplish anything you put your
mind to.
I love you.

***A Frnd 4 Life***

I think that I have found
Upon this wondrous ground
A friend for life, a love
Who is touch above
Life's mediocrities
That blow in different seas
These special ones on earth
Who've been that way since birth
They touch lightly your heart
And never must you part,
For when you see their eyes
There can be no good-byes
So walk this way with me
Along this pathway free,
I shall not bind or tie
Our love or it would die.

Thank You for Being So Wonderful (Greetings)

WHY THE SKY IS BLUE ?

WHY THE SKY IS BLUE ?
On a clear sunny day, the sky above us looks bright blue. In the evening, the
sunset puts on a brilliant show of reds, pinks and oranges. Why is the sky blue?
What makes the sunset red?

To answer these questions, we must learn about light, and the Earth's
atmosphere.

THE ATMOSPHERE

The atmosphere is the mixture of gas molecules and other materials surrounding
the earth. It is made mostly of the gases nitrogen (78%), and oxygen (21%).
Argon gas and water (in the form of vapor, droplets and ice crystals) are the
next most common things. There are also small amounts of other gases, plus
many small solid particles, like dust, soot and ashes, pollen, and salt from the
oceans.

The composition of the atmosphere varies, depending on your location, the
weather, and many other things. There may be more water in the air after a
rainstorm, or near the ocean. Volcanoes can put large amounts of dust particles
high into the atmosphere. Pollution can add different gases or dust and soot.

The atmosphere is densest (thickest) at the bottom, near the Earth. It gradually
thins out as you go higher and higher up. There is no sharp break between the
atmosphere and space.

LIGHT WAVES

Light is a kind of energy that radiates, or travels, in waves. Many different
kinds of energy travel in waves. For example, sound is a wave of vibrating air.
Light is a wave of vibrating electric and magnetic fields. It is one small part of a
larger range of vibrating electromagnetic fields. This range is called the
electromagnetic spectrum.

Electromagnetic waves travel through space at 299,792 km/sec (186,282
miles/sec). This is called the speed of light.

The energy of the radiation depends on its wavelength and frequency. Wavelength is thedistance between the tops (crests) of the waves. Frequency is the number of waves that pass by each second. The longer the wavelength of the light, the lower the frequency, and the less energy it contains.

COLORS OF LIGHT

Visible light is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that our eyes can see. Light from the sun or a light bulb may look white, but it is actually a combination of many colors. We can see the different colors of the spectrum by splitting the light with a prism. The spectrum is also visible when you see a rainbow in the sky.

The colors blend continuously into one another. At one end of the spectrum are the reds and oranges. These gradually shade into yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. The colors have different wavelengths, frequencies, and energies. Violet has the shortest wavelength in the visible spectrum. That means it has the highest frequency and energy. Red has the longest wavelength, and lowest frequency and energy.

LIGHT IN THE AIR

Light travels through space in a straight line as long as nothing disturbs it. As light moves through the atmosphere, it continues to go straight until it bumps into a bit of dust or a gas molecule. Then what happens to the light depends on its wave length and the size of the thing it hits.

Dust particles and water droplets are much larger than the wavelength of visible light. When light hits these large particles, it gets reflected, or bounced off, in different directions. The different colors of light are all reflected by the particle in the same way. The reflected light appears white because it still contains all of the same colors.

Gas molecules are smaller than the wavelength of visible light. If light bumps into them, it acts differently. When light hits a gas molecule, some of it may get absorbed. After awhile, the molecule radiates (releases, or gives off) the light in a different direction. The color that is radiated is the same color that was absorbed. The different colors of light are affected differently. All of the colors can be absorbed. But the higher frequencies (blues) are absorbed more often than the lower frequencies (reds). This process is called Rayleigh scattering. (It is named after Lord John Rayleigh, an English physicist, who first described it in the 1870's.)

WHY IS THE SKY BLUE?

The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

As you look closer to the horizon, the sky appears much paler in color. To reach
you, the scattered blue light must pass through more air. Some of it gets
scattered away again in other directions. Less blue light reaches your eyes. The
color of the sky near the horizon appears paler or white.

THE BLACK SKY AND WHITE SUN

On Earth, the sun appears yellow. If you were out in space, or on the moon, the sun would look white. In space, there is no atmosphere to scatter the sun's light. On Earth, some of the shorter wavelength light (the blues and violets) are removed from the direct rays of the sun by scattering. The remaining colors together appear yellow.

Also, out in space, the sky looks dark and black, instead of blue. This is because there is no atmosphere. There is no scattered light to reach your eyes. WHY IS THE SUNSET RED?

As the sun begins to set, the light must travel farther through the atmosphere before it gets to you. More of the light is reflected and scattered. As less reaches you directly, the sun appears less bright. The color of the sun itself appears to change, first to orange and then to red. This is because even more of the short wavelength blues and greens are now scattered. Only the longer wavelengths are left in the direct beam that reaches your eyes.

The sky around the setting sun may take on many colors. The most spectacular shows occur when the air contains many small particles of dust or water. These particles reflect light in all directions. Then, as some of the light heads towards you, different amounts of the shorter wavelength colors are scattered out. You see the longer wavelengths, and the sky appears red, pink or orange

Last Breath

Last Breath
From those around, I hear a cry.
A mouthful sob,A hopeless sigh.
I hear their footsteps leaving slow,
And then I know, My soul must fly.
A chilly wind begins to blow,
Within my soul,From head to toe.
And then last breath escapes my lips,
It's time to leave and Imust Go!!!
So it's true but its too late,
They said each soul has its given date,
When it must leave its body's core,
And meet with its eternal fate.
Oh mark the words that I do say,
Who knows tomorrow could be your day.
At last, it comes to heaven or hell.
Decide which now, do not delay.
Comeon my brothers let us pray
Decide which now, do not delay...
OH GOD! OH GOD! I cannot see,
My eyes are blind, am I still me.
Or has my soul been led astray,
And forced to pay a priceless fee.
Alas to dust we all return,
some shall rejoice while others burn.
If only I, knew that before,
The line grew short and came my turn.
And now, as beneath the sod,
They lay me with my record flawed.
They cry not knowing, I cry worse,
For they go home," I face my GOD"
Oh mark the words that I do say,
Who knows tomorrow could be your day.
At last, it come to heaven or hell.
Decide which now, do not delay.
Comeon my brothers let us pray,
Decide which now, do not delay...

STRANGE TRUTHS: Strange isn't it?

----- It's Strange Isn't It?
1. Isn't it strange how a 20 dollar bill
seems like such a large
amount when
you donate it to church, but
such a small amount
when you go shopping?

2. Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when

you're at church, and how

short they seem when you're

watching a good movie? 3. Isn't it strange that you can't

find a word to say when

you're praying,

but you have no trouble

thinking what to talk about

with a friend?

4. Isn't it strange how difficult

and boring it is to read

one chapter

of the Bible, but how easy

it is to read 100 pages of

a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?

5. Isn't it strange how everyone

wants front-row-tickets

to concerts or

games, but they do whatever

is possible to sit at the last

row in Church?

6. Isn't it strange how we need to

know about an event for Church 2-3

weeks before the day so we can

include it in our agenda, but we can

adjust it for other events at

the last minute?

7. Isn't it strange how difficult it

is to learn a fact about God to share it

with others, but how easy

it is to learn, understand,

extend and repeat gossip

8. Isn't it strange how we

believe everything

that magazines and newspapers

say, but we question the words in the

Bible?

9. Isn't it strange how everyone

wants a place in

heaven, but they don't want

to believe, do, or say anything

to get there?

10. Isn't it strange how we send

jokes in e-mails and they

are forwarded right away,

but when we are going to send

messages about God, we think

about it twice before we share

it with others?

IT'S STRANGE ISN'T IT?

Now that you've read this message,

forward it to anybody that you consider

a friend, family member or foe(enemy).

If you don't do it, not only will you deprive

yourself from being blessed, but you will

also do that to others who may need

God in their life.

An Alcoholic Dreams

An Alcoholic Dreams

I dreamed one night I passed away and left this world behind.

I started down that lonely trail some of my friends to find.

I came to a signboard on the trail, the directions it did tell.

Keep right to go to heaven, Turn left to go to hell.

I hadn't been to good on earth, just a hopeless boozing rake,

and knew there at the crossroads the path I'd have to take.

So I started on that rocky path that leads to Satan's place:

And I shook within not knowing just what I'd have to face.
Old Satan met me at the gate, "What's your name my friend?"

I said "I'm just old sober Sam that's come to a sad end."

He glanced through some yellow files, "You've mad a mistake I

fear,

you're listed as an alcoholic, we do not want you here."

I said, "I'm looking for my friends." and a smile stole over his face."

If your friends are alcoholics they're in the other place."

So I went back the way I came till the crossroads I did see.

Then turned right to heaven as happy as could be.

St Peter smiled and said "Come In, for you I have a berth.

You are an alcoholic you've been through hell on earth."

I saw ol' Bob and ol' Pat too. Bill R., and a friend called Bell,

and brother I was tickled, cause I thought they'd gone to hell.

So brothers and sisters all take warning learn something from my

trip.

You've got a place in heaven if you try hard not to slip.

If someone tempts you with a drink when you're not feeling well,

tell them you're going to heaven, And they can go to hell!
